LEAP DAY FREE accommodation

When the rules of courtship were stricter, women were only allowed to pop the question on one day every four years. That day was February 29th.
It is believed this tradition was started in 5th century Ireland when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year.

So Girls, get yourselves to Captain Halpin’s Bunkhouse on Leap Day.

We are giving away FREE! accommodation to couples who get engaged on Leap day but only if the girl proposes.
Choose from an abundance of picturesque  romantic  sites, maybe by the Black Castle ruins at sunrise, the first place the rays of the rising sun touch the republic’s most easterly point or  Wicklow Head between the three lighthouses might be best for you, or perhaps the upper lake in Glendalough would suit or  the grounds of the  Old Abbey or during/afterTrad Irish music session in Phil Healy’s Pub or……
