Wicklow Regatta

Wicklow RegattaWicklow Regatta

The first Wicklow Regatta took place in September of 1878. Those rowing races were a means by which unemployed sailors and distressed fishermen could be relieved from the grip of poverty.

Since that time it has evolved into the best regatta in Ireland. There are singing competitions in the pubs, children’s fancy dress, golli competitions! (its what we locals call the river golligor crabs), fancy dress raft race, swimming races and scads more.

It all peaks in a great day of skiff racing.

Come on Down to Wicklow Town!
The craic is mighty!
